We Handle A Wide Range Of Employment Legal Matters

We represent employees in all types of employment law cases, including those involving:

Sexual harassment : We take these types of claims very seriously. Nobody should go to work and worry if they are going to be harassed in this manner. Unwanted advances, direct requests for sexual favors and inappropriate touching are all forms of sexual harassment. It is always best to report this conduct to your employer verbally and in writing.

Discrimination in the workplace : Workplace discrimination is a broad term that encompasses everything from workplace violence to all forms of discrimination. Our goal as a law firm is to promote fair, all inclusive, non-judgmental workplaces where productivity can blossom and workers are treated fairly. With us on your side, we can help hold your employer accountable for past misdeeds and provide you with peace of mind.

Discrimination based on age : If you are 40 years of age or older, federal law protects you from discrimination based on your age. If you believe you were turned down for a job, passed over for promotion or have experienced other forms of age-related discrimination, you may have a strong claim.

Religious-based discrimination : Federal law prohibits employers from discriminating against workers based on their religious beliefs. This extends to requiring employers to make reasonable accommodations to allow employees to engage in religious practices.

Hostile work environments : This kind of environment can occur in a number of ways. A workplace that fosters hostility is non-productive and oppressive. We want to focus on mitigating the situation at hand. If discrimination and harassment have made your workplace unbearable, we may be able to help.

Unpaid overtime claims : You may have been told that you are a salaried employee and are not entitled to overtime, or your employer simply pays you your normal wages for any hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week. There are certain requirements that must be met for an employee to be salaried and many employers wrongly classify workers in an effort to get around overtime laws. Whether you are improperly classified or are not receiving overtime pay, we can help.

Minimum wage disputes : Employers sometimes take advantage of employees’ ignorance of minimum wage laws to pay them less than they should. In other cases, employers may attempt to say that tips make up for any difference when workers are being paid less than minimum wage. We can review your situation and let you know whether you have a strong case.

Whistleblower claims : A whistleblower is an employee who reports wrongdoing in the workplace to a superior and gets punished for doing so. The Texas Whistleblower Act protects individuals from employer retaliation. Not all instances of whistleblowing are protected by the law, but we will fight hard for your side.

Wrongful termination : Most employees are considered to be “at-will” employees. This means an employer has the power to terminate you for any reason at any time, as long as the reason for doing so isn’t illegal. If you believe that you were actually terminated for an illegal reason, speak with us.

Libel, slander and defamation: If an individual writes, says or does anything to defame you, we can provide you with representation. This includes cases where you have suffered material harm due to untrue statements or facts.

Workers’ compensation retaliation: The workers’ compensation system is supposed to protect both employers and employees by not assigning blame for workplace accidents. Nonetheless, some employers may still get upset when a worker makes a claim for compensation and take adverse action against the employee. This is illegal.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) representation: We represent workers in matters involving the EEOC.

Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) representation: We represent workers before the TWC in unemployment benefit hearings and other matters.

Severance agreements: Part of our employment law practice includes reviewing severance agreements to ensure that they are fair and reasonable. We can help negotiate on your behalf in an effort to maximize your benefits.
